8168

I've always dreamed of an outdoor wedding... a stroll by the beach or somewhere outdoor where it'd be less formal and more casual and romantic..
*imagine... wedding under the stars.... ahhh.. lovely*

It so happened that there was a wedding show organised by The Legends @Fort Canning Park last Sunday. And so we went..

Registration started at around 630pm.. we arrived slightly late but just nice before the event started. We checked our names against the list and we're in.
There was a lucky draw and so we dropped our number into their big lucky draw bowl.
Guess what's our no.?
lol.. 8168... coincidentally, that number happened to be my birthday (year/day/month).
Cool right?! So we thought "It's our lucky no! Sure WIN LAH!"

The show was about to start.. we took a seat and juz when the emcee was about to get the show started, *CRASH!!!*
The wind blew 2 of the candles-tree deco on stage down!! The candle holders broke and there was an awkward silence. Luckily no one was injured.. haha.. but to think the emcee tried to salvage the situation but saying that one of the advantages of having an outdoor wedding would be to have the light breeze embrace u...lol

Anyways, after the staff cleaned up the stage, the night went on with a wedding gown show, blah blah blah..

Then came cocktail dinner time. GOSH! It was buffet style and after getting the food, we had no tables to eat at. So we had to hold the plates on one hand while trying to figure out how to eat the noodles, rice and the other food. :P

After dinner, we couldn't decide on whether to stay and wait for the lucky draw or to leave early since there was like a 30 min break in the middle.
So.. but we thought since we got such a wonderful number, might as well stay... and so we did.

finally when the time came.... GOOD GRIEF!! it must have been prearranged!! All the numbers called started with 111x. How kelong can it be? anyway, finally when the emcee was about to announce the 3rd prize winner....... guess what he said!

"WAH! this is a very lucky number. Chinese people love these digits!! Very auspicious!!"

Dar and I looked at each other.. we held our breaths.....

"8"

"1".....

"7.....8!!!"

SHIT!
haha... what a load of bullshit! gave me all that hope and ended up with a "78" instead of a "68".

Sigh... and we went home feeling all cheated and we had only one word in our minds....

"Kelong la........"

so adorable!

just finished my lessons.. cant bring myself to do anymore marking.. *tired*

today was such a wonderful day... i don't really know why.
maybe coz today I din have to flare up as much and time really juz flew by...

I realised I have really cute and adorable darlings...

*shucks~ gotta go relief another class....ciao~*

***

it's just past 10pm now... made a crazy decision to bring back all my Math workbooks today to mark over the holiday tmw... it is absolutely crazy. so heavy!
i wonder if anyone has ever tried weighing 1 Math textbook.. did a yahoo search for the weight of the Math textbook but of coz, there wasn't a successful hit.
luckily dar~ came and fetch me from work today.. else I'd be dead meat man..

oh ya.. back to my previous note about my adorable kids..

some evidences of their cuteness:

1)
We were so sianz going through the English revision paper... then we came across a question that says, "Kangaroo carries its baby in its pouch."
One child mentioned that koala bears also have pouches. After a short discussion, the class agreed that koala bears don't have pouches. Then suddenly, out of nowhere... a gal in my class said, "Doreamon also have a pouch!". I tried to ignore that comment at first.. hoping the rest of the class din hear it.. but alas! They heard it and the children agreed!
haha... I broke out in laughter~ couldn't stop myself.. the children are so cute... so... real.

2)
We read a cloze passage today and for one of it, the moral of the story was... "We will enjoy the fruits of our hard work."
I decided I should explain the meaning of the phrase to the class. But I thought I'd let them ponder over it first. So I got them to think about it's meaning.
A kid in class raised his hand excitedly. He's quite bright, so I called for him to answer.
He said, "It means.. if if... we work hard... then...we can eat the fruits when we grow up!"

Hahahaha.... I couldn't stop laughing!!! I had to illustrate it to the class.
I said, "So, does it mean that if I study hard now, I will get to eat bananas and watermelons when I grow up?!"
*The children were rolling in laughter by now*
I had to explain the correct meaning... so I said, "I studied hard when I was young and now, I'm enjoying myself, being happy and earning a living being a teacher.."
I felt an urge to add this on. I said, "and it does not mean Ms Du is eating bananas and watermelons now!!!"
hahahaha....
***

Sigh.. they are growing up so fast.. learning to be independent and learning to be friends to others... learning to make me less angry and happier... I love them... will miss them terribly if I don't take them as my form class next year...

it's going to be just a long, simple note about what went on today.. haha.. so it's gonna be quite dry to read.. but watever la.. :)

so here goes~

I had the most wonderful day with dar~ today..
started the day with eating my favourite chuey kweh...
then did some household chores and off we went to eat our fave bak kut teh!
so long since we last had it for lunch. it was, as usual, absolutely delicious! hee...

then we decided today was shopping day for me and though i failed to convince dar to bring me to Mustafa, I managed to convince him and myself that i really need/want a bag. haha.. and so we went to bugis!!
bags galore~ loads and loads of bags!! but... sad to say.. din manage to fancy any of the bags there... then went up to Seiyu and guess what I saw!? YES YES!!! Projectshop had a sale on and so I went to 'dig' into the pile of clothes and stuff and managed to find a nice cotton wrap-around skirt. And the fantastic part was.... it was on 70% discount!!! (ie. only $21 after discount!) of coz I had to grab it right... haha...
and then as usual, piggy me got hungry and we went for 'tea' at wisma. simple coffee/toast/eggs. haha.. yes yes, I know.. eggs in the middle of the afternoon?!?!? well, who cares~!! it was quite yummy lah!

then we walked around Wisma aimlessly until we went into Iora.
there it was... sitting quietly in a corner... a nice black bag... haha... couldn't resist touching it.. and it was actually quite cool at first touch. velvet feel... nice black bag.. though quite expensive, I decided it would be too good to miss and so I bought it!

after the movies (The Guardian) which was quite a nice show I must say.. we decided to buy some food back home for steamboat! decided to set aside only $25 for the steamboat stuff, but ended up buying more than we could eat and spent $30+ on all the food. sigh* really must control our spending man...
the dinner was great! enjoyed the food and most definitely enjoyed spending time with my dar~

ahhh... wat a wonderful night...
it was all wonderful..... until........ dar~ said...."dear, tomorrow is Monday hor?"

and the mood went downhill from there....

sigh...... *monday blues again....*

a new beginning..

over the weekends, I attended a pair of sec school friends' wedding..
it was their ROM and they had it at Pasir Ris Park.. at a pub-like dining area by the sea...
quite a nice setting.. :)

seeing them prepare their vows, say their vows in front of the pastor.. it's really quite an experience...
looking into each other's eyes, the vows they said and made to each other.. it's really quite moving.. no wonder pple say some brides/grooms will cry when they make their vows..
so touching...
after the couple exchanged their vows, I looked at shengwang... haha... and said "getting married is such a tiring affair..." and he agreed!!! haha... but it's true! I'd love an outdoor wedding.. haha.. but the best is to combine ROM with the traditional chinese ceremony thingy.. one time settle all. haha.. if not have to sweat it out on so many days.. so tiring leh. haha..

friends keep asking when's my turn.. haha.. all i can say is... not yet la~!

It's so shiok to know that on a Sunday, the next day, though a Monday, I NEED NOT WORK! the feeling is juz fantastic!

went for dim sum in the morning... at Yan Palace @Chinatown
The dim sum there taste quite ok and also at a reasonable price.. anyway, that dim sum was our breakfast and lunch.. haha.. imagine that! Janey not eating for almost 5-6 hours!
we had our next meal at 7+ at Causeway pt..

anyways, back to what happened in the afternoon...
it all went great~! *wink*
i picked up a new hobby.. went to chinatown Gold Dragon to get some thread.. coz thinking of knitting myself another hp pouch (yes yes,.. I've gone mad)
and it was there where I also BOUGHT.....
some earring hooks, some wire thingy for making earrings and some beads!!!
I'm thinking, instead of buying them outside, I should try making simple earrings for myself since I'm so into them lately.. and so I DID!!!
bought a few more beads at Beads.Etc @Heeren.. and I TRIED!!!

WOOHOO~!!
Here are my proud works!!!

though they look kinda unpolished and not really THAT fantastic, but good try don't you think? and I think the best part of it was..... dearie actually tried to figure out with me how to design or how other people made their earrings!!
It's really cool~ LOVE it~!!
