<< Beautiful Child >>

"Beautiful Child" written by Torey Hayden is the book I read during this year's Dec hols.

This book is about a 7 year old child, Venus Fox who never spoke, never listened, never even acknowledged the presence of another human being in the room with her. She would just stand there and only budge when being pushed or pulled. Yet an accidental playground 'bump' would release a rage frightening to behold.
Torey is Venus's teacher and the teaching year was a strenuous journey beset by seemingly insurmountable obstacles and darkened by truly terrible revelations yet encouraged by small sometimes dazzling breakthroughs.

This book inspired me in many ways and definitely touched my heart in more ways than one.
It made me reflect on my teaching ways and what I could do more and better to make the classroom an interesting place to learn in.

For anyone interested, it is a cool book and if interested, it can be found in the National Library. :)
