Honeymoon 2008 - Paris

We set off for our honeymoon trip to europe on 9 Dec 2008. Though it's not our 1st overseas trip, it's our first trip to such a faraway land. It's a free & easy trip, so we booked the plane tix, train tix and hotel ourselves. We flew by SQ and after 13 hours, we finally landed in france, CDG airport. Our 1st stop - Paris! It was almost 9pm when we landed and the temp outside we heard was abt 1deg only. We took their metro trains and arrived at our hotel in paris at ard 10+. Looking out our room window, we saw the top part of the Eiffel Tower! Not bad for a view!

Day 1

After breakfast at the hotel the next morning,we set off to explore the paris city area armed with layers of our winter wear and the city map. It was super cold! Naturally,we headed straight for the infamous Eiffel tower. It stood tall and magnificent under the morning sun. Beautiful. We strolled down the streets, admiring the beautiful buildings, despite braving the strong winds and half freezing in the cold. By noon time, we reached the Arc de Triomph. It was along Champs Elysees aka the Orchard Rd in Paris. We had lunch at one of their faat food burger outlet. Burgers and cold coke was what we had.after lunch, we made a trip down the streets to the LV boutique at Champs Elysees. It was packed with many many shoppers and tourists. The assistant there told me that the bag which i wanted to get was out of stock and they have no idea when or if stock will be coming in. Gosh! I left the place slightly disappointed but hoping that perhaps on our next trip to the shop, there will be stock. We next took the metro to the Louvre to see the famous icon filmed in the movie The Da VinCi Code. It was beautiful and we went into the museum to view its exhibits. Among the museum's many art pieces, the one which most tourists have in mind to see is the Mona Lisa portrait. Indeed, she looks very elegant and approachable in the painting. Soon night fell and we headed back to our hotel area to see the Eiffel tower close up at night. Bright blue lights lit up the magnificant icon. The view made bearing the cold all worthwhile. We headed up the tower to see the view of the paris city area. Bright lights lit the streets all ard the tower. Up on the tall tower, cold winds blew. Freezing cold. After we came down from the tower, we headed to a nearby restaurant for dinner - pizza and pasta with some red wine. Loved how the wine heated my tummy.

Day 2

After breakfast, we headed for Versailles. The train ride was abt 30 min from paris city area. It's an art museum now but it used to be a palace before. It's big and grand and the king's bedroom overlooks a gi-normous garden/forest. It's so picturesque that it looks like it came straight out of an artist's watercolour painting. Beautiful. We wandered into the majestic gardens and decided to have our lunch in one of the restaurants there - pizza and crepes w ham n egg. Not really fantastic but its piping hot vegetable soup was to die-for. After our late lunch, we headed back to the paris city and went to the chapel at Notre Dame. Very nice. Very soon, the skies grew darkwr and we decided to make a trip back towards the Louvre to see it again in the night. We dropped by the LV boutique at Galleries Lafayette. They had only 1 bag left of the bag which i wanted to get. Though we only planned to get the bag when we fly back to paris on the last day, we tot i'd better get the bag now just in case. And so we did! My 1st LV! Sw oso got his bro a Mont Blanc wallet. After the shopping spree and visiting the Lourve at night, we were starving n craving for chinese food. After some searching, we finally found a Japanese restaurant and we had kebab n hot sake there. Shiok.
